Over the course of this weekend i've had a tough time, but regardless of that I will not slacken the effort of my Ep. Last night whilst watching the TV a new riff came to me once more. I thought i recognised it from somewhere but I didn't know where. I originally thought it came from a song from "Peace sells" but looking through the album i couldn't find it so I went upstairs and recorded it. I'm unsure on whether i'll use this on my EP or not but at least this shows that I am creating new riffs and getting stuff done.

So firstly, I realised that the riff I came up with the other night is literally a rip off of "Victory" by Megadeth. I suppose these things happen, but my riff is pretty different to what they play but the same notes are being played

I started creating my first cover, and that was She-Wolf by Megadeth. (If you couldn't tell by now, I love Megadeth) I threw all the guitar riffs into logic and I am now trying to play the solo which for the most part is easy, it's just that I can't get the ending bit nailed. I will add the bass once the guitars are finished, then i'll add the drum track, and lastly the vocals. I don't really fancy myself as a vocalist but i'll give it a shot. Following on from that, I made a fantastic development in my first original track. I somehow came up with an interlude riff that uses a clean guitar tone but instead of just playing that and nothing else, I threw a sample of audio over it. The sample comes from the series "Invincible" where a character called Conquest gives a speech about his loneliness and struggles. I somehow relate to what he says because no one really talks to me in college and i do feel like they see me as unstable. I also added some harmonics when halfway through the speech where i used a technique called "Violining" where u hit a note when the guitar is muted then unmute the guitar and it creates a unique violin-like sound. At the end Conquest closes his monologue with the words "Take it to your grave" which is the name of the song. I feel like the creation of this song describes how i feel perfectly as one minute I want to be thrashy and heavy shredding on the guitar and all that stuff, then the next minute I could be dreadful and like the possibility of me being in band when i'm older and creating a career centred around music isn't possible. The doubts of me not being good enough always creep in but I know for a fact that with a bit of luck and a lot of hard work and use of talent, I can make it. The first track has been bounced onto soundcloud, meaning I am around 25% done with this project already. It took me four bloody weeks but here I am. Next on the agenda is to complete She-Wolf so its all hands on deck now to nail this solo and get everything else done.
