UNIT 8: Research
Throughout the course of this project I have done a lot of research in this project so today I will show and explain all the research I've done in this project.
What you see here the tabs for "Enter Sandman" and "Lucretia". During the creation of my First and original song "Take it to your grave" I wanted to figure out a new section for my song as I didnt know what would come next. I didn't exactly use this as after i finished the solo the song goes into an interlude so i did not use this but it is good for the future in songwriting.
i knew what i wanted to do with my song, it involved getting a sample from a show called "Invincible" where a character named "Conquest" tells the main character all about his struggles and his loneliness before attempting to kill him followed by him saying "Take it to your grave" which inspired the name of my track. In order to extract Conquest's voice, I had to download the youtube video of that line and find a stem splitter which isolates Conquest's voice giving me the perfect chance to place it into Logic
Here is "Am I Evil?" towards the start of when I put it into logic. The research I did for this song includes finding an isolated drum and vocal track which I found on YouTube.
Here is the isolated vocal track i used for am i evil.
Here is the isolated Drum track for am i evil.
These videos were uploaded by the same channel so I that way I knew they were both in time.
Both of these videos led to the finished product of my cover song "Am I Evil?"
In logic pro, I looked for heavy metal guitar tones and what I found most of the time were noisy, fuzzy guitar sounds which hurt my ears as soon as I put the headphones on but I later found a video which helped solve all my problems
I didn't like this guitar tone as it was too bluesy and not enough my style.
This guitar tone had it all for me. It sounded very nice and it did not have any extraneous noise as there was a feature called "Noise gate" which got rid of all the unwanted noise

All 4 of the songs I had chose were all done in Standard tuning.
There is a tuner in logic pro which helped tuned the guitar
The tuning fork is right next to the X on the right
another tuning I considered using was D standard which is one whole step down from E standard
This video gave me a lot of help with how to tune my guitar in logic incase the guitar was not tuned correctly
It gave insights on other things such as guitar tracks built into logic
In this video I found out about pedals too which i didn't know existed in logic
I found out about doubling recordings together and which one to play back.
It taught me about amps and how to adjust the sounds which led to creating the heavy and distorted tone of my guitar.
