Unit 2 - ethics
in todays lecture, we are going to be looking into the ethics of being in a band.
i expect my bandmates to be enthusiastic when it comes to rehearsing, learning, and making things enjoyable. id expect them to turn up on time and use equipment correctly along with being able to listen to advice without being offended. during rehearsals everyone is guilty of going of on a tangent by playing a different song to what the band is playing. this is a bad habit and must be kicked to avoid future conflict in the future.
what are the non-musical benefits? the non musical benefits can be seemingly endless and it gives you multiple opportunities to meet new people and make new friends. another thing to mention is the multiple work opportunities you can be presented with when being in a band like weddings, music venues, pubs, and potentially arenas and stadiums. one of the work related benefits can be experience in managing money and business, it provides insight into what to do in paying bills, contractors, music gear management crew.
rehearsal is really important with being in a band and with that, we need effective strategies in rehearsal times. it may be helpful to create a plan/timetable on what you are going to practice and when. so you could have 1 hour rehearsing A song then another hour rehearsing B song.
As a performing musician, i have responsibilities to not only myself but the band members and the audience. i must be cautious of faulty equipment, bad wiring, and not tripping. i also have the responsibility of learning my parts and performing to the best of my capability.
