Unit 8: Week 1

So far i have learned how to put a guitar into logic using an interface and how to record my guitar parts into logic. I choose to play a harmony from the 1986 track by metallica "Master of Puppets". i chose this because it is a very good solo and it will get me into harmonizing which i had never done before

First of all, i had put the interface in control of the sound by changing the output and input to the interface.

I then changed the input and output in logic to the interface.

I then plugged a guitar cable into the interface but there was no sound on it so i had to change the interface to channel 2 so the system could hear my guitar.

I checked a tab for master of puppets and changed the tempo to 106 which orchestrates the speed of the song.
I had then started recording the two guitar tracks which harmonized with each other and after hundreds and hundreds of takes, i finally got the perfect harmony.

I am proud of what i created in logic since this was my first time using logic to create anything with guitars so i thought it came out pretty well and it's not even finished, so imagine if i did finish it.
The easy part is creating the first guitar, the hard part is recording the second guitar to harmonise with the first. It took me an age to do it but i settled with what i had even though it wasn't perfect.

Friday, 14th of March

Last night i was watching the darts with a few beers, the usual Thursday evening activities and as i was watching the final match i suddenly came up with a riff and waited until the darts finished for me to record it. After the match, i went upstairs and got onto my guitar and created "Drunk ass riff 1" which actually turns out to be a very good and solid riff.

Today i have expanded upon the riff i created last night and in doing so have created real potential for a new song yet it does not come without problems. Me and my lecturer Adam couldn't figure out the time signature for the riff. It starts at 3/4, then it changes into something else which we cant seem to figure out but we will soon figure something out regarding what the drums are doing. the riff extends into an A then a D followed by a "third" chord which is traditionally used by Dave Mustaine in a lot of his songs by Megadeth
