L3 Unit 8: Week 3

 Here's my reflection for the week, not exactly a back-breaking week but it's all going to come together





Corrosion of the Mind

This song is the first song in which our band properly worked together as a unit in the song writing. The structure and riffs are full of life and emotion and really sticks out to us as some of our best work. 
The song is in 4/4 and the intro is in E and the verse riff sounds really good and suspenseful. The chords in the chorus are B, G, D, and A but the guitars don't play the A, the bass does while the guitars play a beautiful harmony.
Polly has an amazing and melodic solo just after second chorus which leads us to the climax of the song itself and we are in the key of B. My solo is not that good but I will hopefully make it better on the record.

Poisonous Soul

Poisonous Soul is our title track and definitely the heaviest. It is structured like a typical thrash song and it illustrates what we do best, strong choruses, surprising harmonies and kick-ass solos. 
The song is in the key of E and is a hard-hitting and overall fun song to listen to and perform. My post chorus solo is all pentatonic ends up harmonising with the ending of the main riff in a nice little surprise ending. This song has a lot of my riffs in it, but the majority of the song structure was mainly orchestrated by Polly since she has a solid understanding of pre-choruses and general song structure.

These two songs are a lifesaver and essential for this EP. Next week, I endeavour to record them and eventually mix them for release.

Throughout the course of this project I have done a lot of research in this project so today I will show and explain all the research I've done in this project. L3 Unit 5 & 6

This will be my on going diary for units 5 and 6 dedicated to the creation, recording, and mixing of my music video.   For this assignment, I need to write a song, record it in logic, mix it, record a music video, edit the music video, and release it on YouTube. The song that my band have chosen to recording a music video for is "Take it to your Grave" which is a song about the character named "Conquest" from the comic book TV adaptation "Invincible". In the season 3 finale, Invincible faces planet Viltrums most feared warrior "Conquest" who batters invincible from pillar to post. During the fight, Conquest opens up to our hero and discusses his feelings of loneliness and isolation from his own race and how he doesn't even get his own name, only a purpose. UNIT 8: Evaluation

  During the creation of these four songs, I learnt a lot about music and songwriting and it was a great experience overall . At the start I made the M aster of P uppets interlude to get my hands on L ogic so I could understand it better . I didn't intend on using that on my EP but I eventually ended up using it as the second track. Once I had completed the guitars for the first song , I started work on my second song “Take it to your grave” This is a song that I take great pride in as it's my first ever original song . The main riff was created on a random drunken Thursday evening and the next day I came into college and I put it into logic . There a lot of figuring out to do such as the tempo, the key of the riff, the bassline etc. But I eventually finished the song by adding a solo using the A minor pentatonic scale and adding an interlude part of the song using a sample from the animated television show “Invincible” where a character named Conquest tells the...
